Sneak Preview

Imagine this is your website. Typically a web page contains sections that are for presentational purposes and sections that contain content most likely written by you.

Example: My Article

This content is marked as editable. Click into this text with the mouse and begin typing to edit the content.

Note: Seaweed requires JavaScript to be turned on in order to work.

Useful keyboard combinations:

Keyboard shortcuts for WYSIWYG-style commands uses typical key combinations found in typical word processor applications. Note for MAC users: use CMD instead of CTRL.

  1. CTRL+Z: Undo
  2. CTRL+Y: Redo
  3. CTRL+C: Copy selection
  4. CTRL+X: Cut selection
  5. CTRL+V: Paste
  6. CTRL+A: Select all (in currently selected editable section)
  7. CTRL+B: Bold selection
  8. CTRL+I: Italic/emphasize selection
  9. CTRL+U: Underline selection
  10. TAB: Indent paragraphs/containers in selection. If cursor is in a list item then the list item will be promoted.
  11. SHIFT+TAB: Outdent paragraphs/containers in selection. If cursor is in a list item then the list item will be demoted.

Above is one example of how Seaweed can work. You can take this idea of seamless editing a lot further. The example is very basic, but gives you a teste of seamless editing. Try the Seawead plugin for Wordpress for a full example, including a GUI and the ability to save content on the fly.
